Our Parent and Carer Council is forum which acts as the voice of our families. The Parent and Carer Council is open to all parents/carers and is not a set body of people, but more of an open forum where parents/carers can raise issues, discuss positive aspects of school life and give their opinions on potential changes or considerations. At Uplands, we also use our Parent and Carer Council meetings for consulting parents/carers on new or updated policies before they go live.
There is no voting or selection process, so any parent/carer can attend any meeting if they wish. Parents/Carers can also email in any points of potential agenda items ahead of meetings if they cannot attend.
Parent and Carer Council meeting dates are advertised in the weekly newsletter and provide families with a brief agenda suggested by the school. This will include follow-ups on any previous school actions. Parents/Carers may suggest additional agenda items via email (office@uplandsberkshire.org) or send in their comments if they are unable to attend the meeting.
The Parent and Carer Council meetings are different to the UFC (the Uplands Fundraising Community, our version of the PTA), and are an open forum to discuss school-related matters and suggest ideas of improvements and provide feedback on changes and aspects of school life that are really successful. The aim of the Parent and Carer Council is to seek the views of parents and carers across the school on a variety of issues and improve the relationship between the school and our families.
Our Parent and Carer Council has already been instrumental in helping us to make important decisions on many issues, including homework, school trips and our weekly newsletter.
The school welcomes any feedback on what is working well at Uplands, as well as any suggestions you may have for improvement. If you have an item you would like to raise for the agenda, please attend the next meeting or contact the school office.
