Music is taught in all year groups. Children are taught to listen to and appreciate different genres of music, and to analyse and critique pieces of music. Children are encouraged to express themselves through music by composing and performing their own pieces, either in class or as part of an assembly or concert.
Children in Years 5 and 6 have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument, such as the violin, glockenspiel or bells. In addition, private music lessons are held at school, either during lunchtime breaks or during an afternoon lesson, and children can learn singing, piano, violin or guitar.
Uplands is proud to take part in cross-borough musical events, such as the Bracknell Forest Carol Concert.
