Welcome to our Nursery

We are entering an exciting new phase of our Nursery’s journey after being awarded one of the first DfE Grants to expand our provision to wider serve the needs of our community.

After undergoing extensive renovation works (which you can see in the presentation below), we now have provision to welcome 2-year-olds from January 2026.

You will see from the pictures that we now have two rooms that are fully fit for purpose and split into the Acorns room for 2-3 year olds and the Oaks room for our 3-4 year olds, although there will be opportunities to interact with the different age groups where appropriate.

As part of the renovations, the Nursery now has fully renovated rooms and furniture, a wonderful new play area, new toilets and outdoor learning areas, all of which will serve to build on our already strong foundations at Uplands.

Uplands Nursery occupies a self-contained building within the Uplands Primary School site and accepts children, usually from the term after their second birthday, or if there are places available, as soon as they reach the age of two.

At Uplands, we understand that deciding on nursery provision for your child is an important process for parents and carers, and that many factors need to be taken into consideration. We aim to provide the best possible start to each and every child’s education and we are very proud of the work we do. Children attending Uplands Nursery have an excellent opportunity to commence their education in close association with our highly successful school from the age of 2. Whilst Uplands Nursery is a separate entity in regards to admissions, it is very much a part of the Uplands family. This brings the added advantages of access to many of the schools resources, such as the school hall, the purpose-built cookery room, field, playground and trim trail, as well as having the opportunity to mix with the community of Uplands Primary School and Nursery.

At Uplands Nursery, your child will be able to benefit from working with a fully-qualified teacher alongside other highly qualified Early Year practitioners. Some of the exciting opportunities that children will be able to experience include PE sessions with our Sports Coach, Outdoor Adventures sessions in our little patch of woodland, weekly engaging phonics activities, exciting trips out and visitors booked to come to us, cooking in our cookery room and our annual Sports Day.

We enable pupils to have the best start in education by: promoting independence and confidence; monitoring and developing key personal and academic skills; celebrating and modelling core values; and nurturing a love of learning. The skills and values that we promote prepare every child for transition into primary school.

We are also embracing EYFS Development Matters.

We accept government funding and invite potential parents to look here to check eligibility for their child.

To claim the extended hours of government funding, all applications must be made in the term before you wish to use the funding. For example, if you have applied to Uplands Nursery for your child to attend in the Spring term (January) you must have accessed the Government website and made your application for funding in the Autumn term (before 31st December).

Session times are as follows:

Morning: 08:45 – 11:45
Lunchtime: 11:45 – 12:30
Afternoon: 12:30 – 15:30

Please note: Obtaining a place at Uplands Nursery will not give children priority for a place at Uplands Primary School. All school applications are made through Bracknell Forest School Admissions.
