Uplands Primary School and Nursery PTA
The PTA (Parent Teacher Association) is an organised charity of the school run by the parents, carers and staff of the children attending Uplands Primary School and Nursery (Registered Charity Number 1027032).
The PTA is run entirely by volunteers and organises a variety of events with the aim of raising money to enhance our children’s experience at school. The PTA has been instrumental in raising funds to provide enhanced provisions for the children of Uplands Primary School and Nursery, including Play Equipment for each class to use at breaktimes, Electronic Devices, Year 6 Leavers Books, enrichment activities eg. Farm Visits within school, as well as Software to support mental health and Rucksacks for School Trips.
In 2022/23 we raised a fantastic ÂŁ12,000. For the 23/24 Academic Year, we are aiming to install a roof on the outdoor classroom and spruce the area up so it can be used in all weathers. Other items on the wish list include a Sound and Lighting System for the School Hall.

The events run by the PTA include, but are not limited to; School Discos, Non-Uniform Days, Summer Fayre, Christmas Fayre, The Uplands Bake-Off, Ice Lolly sales, Quiz Night, Uplands Has Talent and Bonkers Bingo.

Class Reps
Class reps are a key link between the committee and the wider school community. They share information about upcoming activities, requests for volunteers or donations and share fundraising totals and the impact of the activity. Class Reps enable the sharing feedback and ideas from their year groups regarding PTA events.
Responsibilities
- Keep parents/carers informed of upcoming activity
- Support with some elements of PTA events ie. Selling raffle tickets to their classes.
- Recruit volunteers for events
- Share donation requests with the wider PTA
- Update parents/carers on fundraising successes and what the impact has been
- Encourages input and feedback from parents and carers
Volunteers
Most events that are run require volunteers; all parents/carers are welcome. DBS may be required if working at events where children are present. If you have not had a DBS check but would like to volunteer at events then please contact ptachair@uplandsberkshire.org
They ways in which people can be involved;
- Taking the lead on a fundraising activity – either one already planned in or developing a new one.
- Supporting the planning or preparation for events.
- Sourcing raffle prizes or other donations from companies.
- Working at events – set up, running the events or helping to clear up.
- After school sales of cakes, ice lollies, uniform.
If you would like to get involved, please attend a meeting or let your class rep know.
Supporters
Wherever possible, please support our initiatives and events. These range from donating clothes to the Clothing Bank at School, buying ice lollies/doughnuts at after school sales, to coming to our evening or weekend events like the Summer Fayre or our Quiz Nights.
We want to ensure these events are fun for you and your children. Please do let us know what you think!

Once you create an account with Easyfundraising you can activate a link so when you order online with certain companies you can raise funds for the school too. A lot of companies offer this in different industries including insurance, travel, electrical and mobile firms including big names like Amazon, Argos, Late rooms, Expedia, Axa,Thomas cook, vodafone etc The list is huge. When you set up an account and search on google you can install a prompt that will divert you via easyfunding then once you make your purchase a donation will be made to the school account. It is very easy and a great way to raise funds. There is also a mobile app too!
